Educating the Net Generation in Life Sciences

Dear IAASers around the world,

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your student life!

In June ICA, the European Association of Life Science Universities, is going to host a conference on virtual learning and teaching called Educating the Net Generation in the Life Sciences”. You can find more information about this on http://www.ica-ls.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=163&Itemid=210

ICA is a European network for universities and/or faculties for life sciences so the following is mainly of interest for Europeans.

One of the sessions during this conference is called "How does technology impact on the teaching and learning process, positive/negative effects?" And for this they have asked the students (both IFSA and IAAS) to prepare a keynote speech.

This is where YOU come into the picture!

We (IAAS and IFSA) want to create a small team who can work on this. The team will have to decide on the form the keynote should have, how we can get sufficient opinions from students (qualitative/quantitative) and also who should do the actual speech. ICA can provide some financial support to the students participation in the conference.

We need to get started on this ASAP. So if you find this interesting and want to be on board, or just have some clarifying questions feel free to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Best Regards to all of you,

Lyda

On behalf of both IAAS and IFSA

IFPRI 2020 Book: Reshaping Agriculture for Nutrition and Health

On the one-year anniversary of IFPRI’s 2020 conference on “Leveraging Agriculture for Improving Nutrition and Health,” we are very pleased to announce the publication of Reshaping Agriculture for Nutrition and Health.

This edited book compiles the background papers and briefs originally commissioned by IFPRI for the conference and subsequently peer-reviewed and revised.   The chapters in this volume look at the links among agriculture, nutrition, and health and their potential to convey more benefits to poor and hungry people.  They examine how much more agriculture could do to improve human well-being if it included specific policies, actions and interventions to achieve health and nutrition goals; what kinds of changes would maximize agriculture’s contribution to human health and nutrition; and how could human health and nutrition contribute to a productive and sustainable agricultural system.

The full book can be downloaded, in its entirety or by individual chapters, at the IFPRI website: http://www.ifpri.org/publication/reshaping-agriculture-nutrition-and-health.

We hope this book will serve as an important resource as you work toward shaping agriculture that improves human nutrition and health around the world.
